StuyHacks is a student-run hackathon taking place in the heart of Manhattan. We seek to expose as many high school and middle school students as possible to the creativity and innovation that technology brings. We want to help trailblaze a new generation of diversity and enthusiasm for invention. Come join our movement.
Get ready, get set, get hacking!
What is a hackathon?
It’s a grand gathering of people to make their ideas come to life. Think out of the box, try new technologies, ask questions, make mistakes, discover a new language, and have fun! Read more on Medium.
What if I am a beginner?
That’s absolutely fine! We encourage beginners to join us. Get psyched to learn a ton from our mentors and have a blast with your teammates!
Do I need to have a finished project by the end?
Your goal should be to have a finished or almost complete project by the end of the hackathon. However, StuyHacks is ultimately a learning experience, so don't sweat it too much if you can't finish.
What should I bring?
You should bring your laptop, phone, chargers, and HYPE.
Who can attend?
All students! Even though the hackathon is only for high schoolers and middle schoolers, if you're in college or above, you can still apply to be one of our amazing mentors!
When is the deadline to register?
The deadline to register is January 12th.
Do I have to hack with a team?
Nope, you're welcome to hack on your own! However, only teams with 2-4 people are eligible to win prizes.
Who's coming?
We expect over 100 hackers from middle/high schools all over the tri-state area to be attending StuyHacks.
Do I need a team or idea to sign up?
Nope—just come with a willingness to learn something new!
